Blackwood

Victorian Fantasy Horror Comedy
Crossmedia project
Role: Creator | Director | Art Director
Production: CUB Animation

As director and creator, I developed the Blackwood universe as a darkly humorous and absurd Victorian fantasy world, inspired by classical horror literature from the 19th century, such as E.A. and J.S.Le Fanu, and by dark old folk tales.
In the city of Blackwood fear meets elegance, macabre tales meet quirky humor, and anything—no matter how absurd—can happen. Through its visuals and storytelling, I aimed to make these twisted, playful stories both creepy and entertaining for a wide audience across TV, web, and games.

In the character design, I explored the balance between grotesque and lovable figures. The characters were created to fit a stylized animation world inspired by paper-cut animation.

My graduation film, How to Write a Blackwood Article?, served as the starting point for the later Blackwood crossmedia project. An absurd dark comedy about a young, ambitious writer whose greatest desire is to publish a truly chilling article. The film is based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe.
